Please note that A Taste of Koko is not encouraging readers to go out to dine by any means but this blog post is meant to serve as a resource for those that have requested this updated list and to help support our local restaurants that have reopened to keep their business alive and pay their staff.

The weather is finally starting to warm after a long, cold winter in Austin! Living in Austin is the perfect combination of inner-city life and outdoor activity, and with the 85-degree temperatures, we’ve been having lately, what better way to enjoy the day than sitting on a lovely patio with a margarita in hand?

Loro Austin

LORO

Loro has the largest outdoor patio on South Lamar that’s perfect for snacking and sipping boozy slushees.

COVID-19 update: All parties will be seated at least six feet apart, sanitization of shared surfaces will occur every 30 minutes, face coverings are required both for staff and guests, and more. For a list of our safety measures please visit our website. If you would like to dine with us, we please ask you to place your name and party size on this waitlist prior to arrival.

Rosewood Restaurant in East Austin

ROSEWOOD

Rosewood is now Rosewood Gulf Coast Chop House with a brand new menu and reopening Wednesday, June 3rd! They’re one of the few restaurants in East Austin that has one acre of outdoor patio space. Tables are spaced 6 feet apart. 

COVID-19 update: You are required to wear a mask when you enter the restaurant and reservations are encouraged.

Stiles Switch BBQ in Austin, Texas

Stiles Switch has reopened their dining room and patio with limited seating so you can enjoy their smoked meats and infamous Bloody Mary’s!

Grizzelda's Sunday brunch

GRIZZELDA’S

Grizzelda’s has reopened their dining room and patio! Reservations are encouraged and please call ahead (512) 366-5908 to check capacity before you drop in.

COVID-19 update: Reservations encouraged service exceeding State & CDC guidelines for Dining for the safety of staff and guests. Hand Sanitizer Kiosks before entering and masks for all staff & all guests required while not seated at the table, Dining room has been redesigned respecting 25% capacity and mandatory 6ft or more distancing of all guests, as well as constant cleaning of surfaces & hands.

A Taste of Koko

BAR PEACHED

Heritage tree-shaded outdoor patio with both lounge and traditional table seating where guests can enjoy the restaurant’s classic Asian fusion cuisine, cocktails, and Korean bingsu

COVID-19 update: reopens on Tuesday, June 2nd. Bar Peached has put together a special curbside menu that can be viewed HERE. It features Bar Peached favorites in a family-style format serving 2-3 people. Curbside pickup at the restaurant is available as well as delivery via Uber Eats and Favor.

Bar Peached will also be offering bottled cocktails such as the beloved Margarita de Peached, the Big Breezy featuring watermelon, gin, and lemon, the Yoga & Chill with vodka, lime and cucumber water, and a classic Paloma option. Cider, mead, sake, beer, and wine by the bottle will also be available for purchase.

Hours: Tuesday – Thursday from 5-9 pm and Friday – Saturday 5-10pm.

Uchi has resumed in-restaurant dining with patio seating and expanded hours.

COVID-19 update: The return of limited, reservation-only in-restaurant dining and patio seating now available, with expanded dining hours and extended Sake Social happy hours from 4:00pm – 6:30 pm, with new protocols and measures – above and beyond government requirements, to keep guests, staff and the community safe during COVID-19.

  • Sundays through Thursdays, 4:00 – 9:00 pm
  • Fridays and Saturdays, 4:00 – 10:00 pm
  • Sake Social happy hour everyday, 4:00 – 6:30 pm

Mozart’s is still one of my favorite spots in Austin to sit back and enjoy the view of Lake Austin.

JOSEPHINE HOUSE

Delicious in all it’s glory, step away from the city and have a drink with friends. This spot is ideal for anytime of the day, especially breakfast. 

COVID-19 update: Dining rooms have been carefully plotted to keep at least 6 feet between other seated tables and staff will be asking anyone moving through the spaces to wear a face covering. Single-use menus and implementing contactless pay. Reservation encouraged on OpenTable or by calling 512-477-5584.

CONTIGO

Channel your southern vibes and head down Manor Rd. for a solid outdoor experience. Dog-friendly, so bring the pups to soak up the sun as well.

COVID-19 update:  100% open-air dining with tables spaced amply 6+ feet apart. Rotating menus will feature both the classics (crispy green beans anyone??) and daily chef specials highlighting this season’s produce. Reservations are strongly encouraged since spots are limited, and hand sanitizing stations are set up throughout the restaurant and bathrooms. You will asked to wear your masks till seated, and staff will stay gloved and masked throughout service.

EL ALMA

El Alma has one the best views of downtown Austin and they’ve reopened with limited seating and an expanded menu. Reservations are for the dining room only. Weather permitting, same-day reservations for patio seating are welcome. 

COVID-19 update: Dining room and patio seating has been rearranged to promote social distance. Staff and customers will be required to wear a mask while moving around the restaurant. Complimentary disposable masks will be available for guests who arrive without one. Staff temperatures will be checked each shift as well as guests upon arrival. El Alma respectfully asks if someone has a temperature, or is not feeling well, that they please refrain from dining in public until they feel better. The entire El Alma property will be professionally sanitized by Clean Advocate, a fellow AIBA member business, before reopening and on a recurring schedule moving forward.

Put on your cowboy boots and go to Jacoby’s ranch-to-table dining experience on East Austin overlooking the Colorado River.

Guero’s has reopened their the Oak Garden on Fridays and Saturdays.

COVID-19 update: “We will continue to adhere to regulations and keep tables 6 feet from one another, and though we will be bringing back live music, we have a few new norms on how to enjoy it (sorry folks, leave those dancing shoes at home).

  • All employees will wear masks and gloves
  • Sanitation stations will be present throughout the restaurant
  • Increase sanitation of the restaurant with extra attention to high trafficked areas, and all tables will be distanced 6 feet apart
  • Salsa bar will not be set up as self-serve, your server will bring this to you
  • Single-use menus and replace all cups when offering refills

HOUSE WINE

House Wine will be reopening to the public on Wednesday, June 3 with their regular hours of 12-10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 12-pm to 12 a.m. Friday & Saturday. Reservations are required, and they can be made HERE through Tock. House Wine will also continue to offer Contactless Curbside Pickup and Delivery at current hours, and all retail wine bottles remain 50% off. All delivery orders must be placed through the House Wine app, available on the app store and free delivery is available for orders over $30 dollars.

Lucky Robot doesn’t have the biggest patio space but it still deserves a spot on this best patios in Austin. This is a prime location for people watching on South Congress while snacking on brussels sprouts and sake.
