Sharing is caring!

Staycation in Austin, Texas at the Miraval Austin, the highly inclusive wellness resort with exclusive experiences & inclusive activities. Located on 280-plus acres in the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve, Miraval Austin is just 40 minutes from downtown Austin in the Texas Hill Country and minutes from Lake Travis. I can’t believe we have this quiet, special getaway right here in the city! Miraval is a digital device-free environment so it’s the ultimate place to unplug.

About Miraval Austin Resort

Miraval Resorts by Hyatt has three locations – Austin, Arizona, and Berkshires. I haven’t been to Arizona or Berkshires yet but both are on my list. If you are flying into Austin to stay at Miraval, they offer complimentary transport from Austin-Bergstrom Airport. You can book an overnight stay or a daypass.

I’ve been to Miraval Austin many times over the years and it’s my favorite wellness retreat to relax and recharge with fitness activities, wellness experiences, spa treatments, and nourishing meals. Whether it’s for a day pass or an overnight stay, I’ve always feel refreshed after a stay. I’ve stayed on my own, a few times with the husband for a couple’s getaway, baby moon, and recently surprised and treated my mother-in-law and it was an incredible bonding moment.

The day spa package includes $250 resort credit per person towards any spa service, fee-based experiences or private sessions, gourmet lunch at Hilltop Crossings Kitchen, unlimited participation in complimentary yoga, meditation, fitness classes, and wellness lectures, full access to Miraval’s resort amenities, complimentary snacks, smoothies, coffee or tea at the Nest and welcome tote and reusable Miraval water bottle.

All-inclusive Experiences & Activities

Miraval has over a hundred experiences with activities and private sessions in animal connections, creative expression, farm and garden, fitness, integrative wellbeing, meditation, nourishment, outdoor adventure, spirit and soul, and yoga. You can also meet with a specialist who can curate and suggest activities for you!

Here some of the activities I’ve done at Miraval.

Animal Connections

  • Miraval Equine Experience** – we worked with the horses here at Miraval and learned how to build a connection with them
  • Unforgettable Canvas** – we got to paint on the side of a horse! Using the horse’s side as a living canvas to stay present and grounded – really cool and unique experience.
  • Chicken keeping – learned how to raise and care for a backyard flock, set up a small coop, collect eggs, and bond with eggs. We’ve been wanting to have chickens at home so we were really excited to take this class and learn.
  • Cypress Creek Farm Visit – located at Cypress Creek Farm where the chicken keeping class is held, we met with the local farmers to explore the on-site farm which provides produce and eggs for Miraval Austin’s kitchens.

Fitness

I’ve only done a few of these because I’m pregnant but my husband and mother-in-law loved all the different fitness classes!

  • Abs & Glutes – nonstop core conditioning class strengthens and tones abs, glutes, hips, and legs with targeted exercises
  • Body & Barre – floor barre exercises, resistance training with bands, balls, and cardio component
  • Aqua Cardio – fun class takes place in the pool to build muscles in a cardiovascular fitness class
  • Happy Hips – hips’ flexibility and mobility using self-myofascial release techniques, hip joint opening experiences and Yoga-based stretches
  • Shoulders Set Free – increase shoulder girdle’s mobility and stability with a foam roller and stretch-out strap
  • Stretch & Relax – I loved this class espescially pregnant to help unwind and focus on breathing and holding stretches longer

Meditation

  • Walking The Labyrinth – the labyrinth at Miraval is beautiful and in this class we learned the three stages of awareness that unfold as you walk this path of self-discovery
  • Floating Meditation** – this is one of my favorite classes at Miraval that I try to do on every visit. You hang in a silk hammock while rocking/floating above the floor
  • Floating Meditation at Cypress Creek Farm** – available during the cooler months, relaxing in suspended hammocks at the farm for a guided meditation

Stand up paddle board (SUP) on Lake Austin *

Nourishment

  • Aperitifs, Digestifs & Me – beerage specialists led a conversation and tasting of aperitifs and digestifs and how these low-alcohol-content liquors and cordials can be a great addition to any meal
  • Conquer The Blade** – the husband really wanted to take this knife cutting class and we learned all about the anatomy of a knife, blade variations and critical cutting techniques to chop our food like a seasoned chef
  • Pasta A Mano** – another class we took together was learning how to hand-roll pasta with fresh ingredients

Outdoor Adventure

  • Stand Up Paddleboard** – loved this outdoor excursion to Lake Austin while paddling on a SUP. There’s also kayaking on Lake Austin.
  • Preserve Hike – guided hike of the local Balcones Canyonlands Presrve

Spirit & Soul

  • Cleansing Ceremony** – loved this grounding experience where we learned how scared plants create safe spaces, spiritual protection, and clarity when burned.
  • Floating Sound Bath** – I also love the floating sound bath while floating in a silk hammock with an immersive sound bath of Himalayan, quartz, and crystal alchemy bowls, gongs and sacred instruments
  • Splendor of Sound** – we did this experience as a family! Sound healing with Himalayan singing bowls, rhythmic gong, and etheric vocals in a Yoga Nidra journey

Yoga

  • Rise & Shine Yoga – starting our day with an inspiring yoga practice
  • Tex Zen Yoga – this was a fun relaxing yoga class while listening to country music

All-inclusive Meals

I LOVE the food at Miraval – I think I gained 6 pounds on one visit alone because I wanted to try as many courses during the visit. ALL meals are included (breakfast, lunch & dinner) – SO good & healthy with all the dietary restrictions. And when I say dietary restrictions – it’s all of the dietary restrictions. Vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free, soy-free, egg-free, and nut-free, and the menus denote the calorie information for each dish.

Breakfast and lunch both have buffet options along with al carte, and dinner is my absolute favorite. We’d order 2-3 appetizers and 3-4 entrees to try a little bit of everything. Any dish with 44 Farms beef is incredible and the seafood of the day is incredible – the seafood is always wild caught. I love the food at Miraval so much that I picked up a copy of their cookbook, Recipes For A Life In Balance.

Miraval Austin sources from these purveyors and farms: Cypress Creek Farms Animal Farms, 44 farms, Buena Tierra, Engle Farms, The Farm Patch, Good Flo Honey, Broken Arrow Ranch Farm-to-Table, Oak Hill, Tenaza Organics, G & S Orchards, Hifi Mycology, Homestead Gristmill – San Saba Pecan Company Village Farms and Honey Doe Farms.

I also love that Miraval has a variety of non-alcoholic beverages including non-alcoholic wine, and a complimentary season spritz.

Life In Balance Spa

The Life In Balance Spa at Miraval is incredible and I would highly recommend booking a treatment during your stay. Spa services and treatments range from body renewal rituals (exfoliating scrubs, nourishing wraps), ayurveda, energy & eastern, massages, salon and nail care, mother-to-be, and skin care. During both visits to Miraval while pregnant, the prenatal massages were incredible and just what my body needed!

Spa amenities include hot tubs, steam room, sauna, shower, bathrobes, sandals, and outdoor Serenity pool & hot tub.

Swimming Pools

Miraval Austin has two infinity swimming pools:

  • Discovery Pool located near the Arrival Center has the Discovery Café where you can order poolside snacks like chips and salsa, and alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages
  • Serenity Pool located by to the spa with a view of Lake Travis with an outdoor hot tub

Miraval Austin gardens

Gardens at Miraval

I love walking through all the gardens at Miraval – seeing and smelling all the local flowers, herbs, vines, and plants thriving is so relaxing.

Let me know if you have any questions at Miraval Austin or if you’ve been to Miraval Arizona or Miraval Berkshires! From the moment you check-in, it’s a rejuvenating experience.
