Austin is one of the most dog-friendly cities so I had to put together a guide on the best dog-friendly restaurants in Austin that’s approved by Basil!

Fat City Stacks in Austin Texas

Fat City Stacks

Fat City Stacks just opened with smashed beef sliders, fried chicken sliders, tots, fries, and soft serve. Go big or go home with the “In the Money” Family Sack, which includes 12 sliders, crinkle fries, tots, and two sauces. There’s a dog-friendly menu with Canine Meatballs made with chicken, parsley, celery, and carrots and the All Dogs Go To Heaven ice cream made with peanut butter and greek yogurt!

Located next to Yard Bar, the off-leash dog park, there’s also a turfed kid play area with games and a covered trellis area to create a space that is both family- and dog-friendly.

Oakmont Food Company

Oakmont Food Company just opened in Central Austin and there are two spacious patio areas outside that is shaded and dog-friendly!

Easy Tiger has reopened their dog-friendly beer garden at the Lincoln Center – put on a mask, bring the pup, and enjoy craft beer, artisan bread, and more!

Sawyer & Co - dog friendly restaurants in Austin

Sawyer & Co

Sawyer & Co has one of the cutest dog-friendly patios in Austin with their retro turquoise chairs. Basil and I had weekend brunch there last weekend and loved it! 

Right now they’re offering these cute to-go cocktails – I ordered two at the end of my meal to drink at home!

Hours: 10 AM – 8 PM, closed Tuesdays

Happy Hour: dine-in for happy hour from 3:30pm – 6:30pm for food and drink specials!

Austin Eastciders on Barton Springs Rd in Austin Texas


Austin Eastciders just opened up their first restaurant on Barton Springs with a huge dog-friendly patio! Stay and dine or get food and a 6-pack to-go for Zilker Park.

Hours: Mon – Fri 7:30am, Sat/Sun 8:30am Close: Sun – Thurs 10pm, Fri/Sat: 11pm. Happy Hour: Mon-Thurs at 2pm-5pm.

Happy hour: Monday – Thursday from 2pm – 5pm and $4 cider pints and $5 select appetizers.

 Grizzelda's brunch - best dog friendly restaurants in Austin


Basil and I have been to Grizzelda’s many many times for a Tex-Mex dinner and for Sunday brunch. The staff always brings him a big water bowl!

Loro - dog friendly restaurant in Austin


Loro has the largest outdoor patio on South Lamar so I had to add it to my list of best dog friendly restaurants in Austin. The patio is perfect for snacking and sipping boozy slushees.

Bar Peached

The dog-friendly patio at Bar Peached is nicely shaded thanks to the huge heritage tree and plenty of fans. Come for the happy hour vibes.

Hours: Tuesday – Thursday from 5-9 pm and Friday – Saturday 5-10pm.

Dough Boys - food truck in Austin

Dough Boys

Dough Boys (new Italian pizza food truck) along with several other food trucks at the Arbor Food Park in East Austin is pooch friendly. I love the veggie Eastside trip pizza with local oyster mushrooms and garlic cream.

Jester King Brewery in Austin Texas

Jester King Brewery

Jester King has reopened their 165 acres of land in the Texas Hill Country as a beer-friendly and dog-friendly park! 

Hours: Reservation-only system

  • Thursday-Sunday:

Reserve date, time, & table online.

  • Thursday/Friday: 4-9pm
  • Saturday/Sunday: 12-4pm & 5-9pm (closed for sanitizing from 4-5pm).

COVID-19 regulations:

  • Guests will be greeted by a host who will seat them at their reserved table.
  • Guests will scan a QR code at their table to order online and retrieve their order from the pick-up zone when they receive a text that it is ready.
  • No glassware or cutlery. All draft beer will be served in biodegradable cups. Bottles, cans, and crowlers available.
  • Protective face coverings will be required for customers at all times, except while eating and drinking.
  • All Jester King staff are required to wear face coverings and gloves as well.
  • All surfaces will be routinely cleaned and sanitized. Additionally, the brewery will be doing a hard close between each reservation session for deep cleaning and sanitization.

One of my favorite coffee shops in Austin is Cosmic Coffee on South Congress with a large dog-friendly and kid-friendly patio, craft beer, chicken coop, and pond. They also have several food trucks parked in their yard:

Yard Bar is a North Austin dog park that also serves up craft cocktails, beer, wine and other n/a drinks. You can sit back and relax (solo or with friends) while your dog runs free in the off-leash, fenced-in dog park. They get to play with their pals while you get to kick back and watch the action. This spot often has fun fun drink features and merch for you and your pup to enjoy as well (try the frozen lemonade!). They also host activities for you and your dog to enjoy together like the annual Puppy Bowl, holiday pawtrait photo booths, fundraising events for dog-related causes and more.
