Rosewood restaurant opened in East Austin in 2018 but I’m just getting around to putting together this blog post on the restaurant! Rosewood is located at the historic Victorian home perched on the hill at the intersection of Rosewood Avenue and East 11th Street with a view of downtown Austin.
Rosewood’s menu pays homage to its historic 1890 home, while also being rooted in the cuisine of South Texas and those that provide the provisions used in the kitchen: Hill Country farmers and ranchers and Gulf Coast fishers. With in-house butchering and whole-animal utilization, Chef Jesse DeLeon creates compelling menu items, as well as off-menu dishes determined by what is fresh that day.

Rosewood has rebranded as Rosewood Gulf Coast Chop House. This Austin restaurant has reopened its doors with new COVID-19 regulations to keep its diners safe by requiring a mask when you enter the restaurant and staff are also required to wear masks throughout service.

With Rosewood new reopening since COVID-19, they’re launched with a completely brand new menu and I have to say I am so impressed and like this menu a lot more.

Okra tempura with jalapeño yoghurt, serrano chimichurri, and mint.
Jumbo Lump Crab Salad with lemongrass custard, grapefruit pico de gallo, and salmon roe. I personally do not love crab so I didn’t care for this appetizer.
**Glazed Pork Ribs with fish caramel and sesame seeds. I LOVED these ribs – so flavorful, moist while with the perfect level of stickiness.
Caesar salad with boquerones, parmesan, croutons.
**Grilled Pork Chop Milanesa with red beans and rice and mirliton salad. I would not have ordered this dish because I don’t care for pork chops but I’m so glad Hayden did because this was SO good. The pork chop was pounded until tender, coated with panko and then fried. Absolutely delicious.

**Wagyu Strip Steak “Oscar Style” with jumbo lump crab bearnaise, green beans, and scalloped potatoes. Loved this entree as well!

Rosewood does still have a to-go menu for curbside pick up. Above is their buttermilk fried chicken with Thai fish caramel and pickles – it’s one my favorite fried chicken in Austin!

Indoor bar
When you walk into Rosewood restaurant, the first room on your left is the bar area with a couple of tables if you wish to dine in this area. You can also order a cocktail while you wait for your table.
Outdoor patio
You can dine inside the restaurant in their dining room or outside. Rosewood has almost over an acre on their property so they’ve renovated their outdoor patio during this time with tables spaced out at least 6 feet. You can also ask for picnic blankets and picnic on their lawn!
