Let me preface this post by saying that I am not vegan. But after eating my way through Austin’s vegan scene — which has expanded a lot since I first started this list — I can confirm vegan food is actually really good. Vegan queso, vegan chorizo, vegan brisket, vegan donuts, vegan ramen, vegan supper-club menus with live jazz — Austin has gone all-in.
Here are the 20 best vegan restaurants in Austin, sorted by category. Some are 100% vegan; others are vegan-friendly with strong vegan options on a mostly non-vegan menu — I’ve split them into sections so you know what to expect.

These spots aren’t fully vegan, but they have strong vegan options worth seeking out.
Jupiter Supper Club
Plant-first downtown restaurant and supper club with live jazz shows. Jupiter’s culinary focus is rooted in vegan cuisine, though the menu does include some animal products from certified humane, locally raised, traceable sources only — no factory farm products, ever. They keep dedicated prep areas to prevent cross-contact, and every dish is clearly labeled on the menu, making it one of the most thoughtful spots in Austin for mixed groups of vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores dining together. The live jazz is a real differentiator.

Sazan Ramen makes an incredible Just Like Paitan ramen — a creamy vegan broth with kale noodles topped with a Kakiage tempura ball (onions, arugula, beni-shoga). It’s sooo good.

On Our Radar: New & Returning Austin Vegan Restaurants in 2026
Counter Culture (Coming Summer 2026)
After closing its East Cesar Chavez location years ago, owner Sue Davis is bringing Counter Culture back in summer 2026 — reopening as a mid-century-inspired vegan diner in Windsor Park. The team is currently renovating an older building with help from Havens Construction and Weiss Architecture. One to watch for vegan diner classics from a beloved Austin name.
Fabrik (Currently Closed)
Fabrik, Austin’s fine-dining vegan tasting-menu restaurant on Windsor Rd, is currently temporarily closed. Worth keeping on your radar for a potential reopening — when they were operating, the five and seven-course tasting menus made with locally sourced ingredients were one of the only true upscale plant-based experiences in town.
