Living in Central Austin for so long makes me forget that the Texas Hill Country is less than 30 minutes away. Basil and I did a little staycation a couple of weeks ago at Sonesta Bee Cave. MERIDIAN 98
Meridian 98 is Sonata’s premier restaurant that serves community farm-to-table specialty plates that are locally sourced from Texas farmers and fisherman by Executive Chef Patrick Newman. The outside patio (pictured above) has a great view of the Hill Country and if you prefer to dine inside, it’s fashioned after an authentic London Club.
WHAT TO ORDER: Chili saffron edamame, confit duck sliders, and barbacoa street tacos (loved these!).
HAPPY HOUR: Monday to Thursday from 4- 7pm with $2 off crafft cocktails, house wine, & beer. Sunday from 4pm to close.

TADASHI
It’s a far drive to the Hill Country Galleria for sushi but if you’re already in the area, Tadashi is incredible and worth the visit. Pictured above is the fish sampler, it comes in 4 different sizes that range from $40 to $100. You can choose from all nigiri, all sashimi or a mix. This specific box is all sashimi and the selection varies on what the restaurant has that day. From left to right, top to bottom is Kampachi (Amberjack), Suzuki (Wild Seabass), Saba (Fresh Mackerel), Wild Tako (Wild Octopus), Hamachi Belly (Yellowtail Belly), Madai (Japanese Snapper), Houbou (Red Gurnard), Maguro (Tuna), Hirame (Flounder).

All aboard the Sonesta trolley – it’s offers complimentary rides to the restaurants and shops at the Hill Country Galleria!
HILL COUNTRY GALLERIA
Located right behind Sonesta Bee Cave is the Hill Country Galleria. Easily walkable from the hotel but if you want to avoid the heat, take the Sonesta Trolley. Stores include Whole Foods Market, Barnes & Noble, H&M, and more. Restaurants in the Hill Country Galleria include Amy’s Ice Creams, Buenos Aires Cafe, The Candy Bar, Chisos Grill, and Tadashi.

FALCONHEAD GOLF CLUB
⛳ Hit a couple of holes (18 holes to be exact) at Falconhead Golf Club, it’s less than 10 minutes from Sonesta Bee Cave. I had too much fun driving the golf cart up and down the rolling terrain of the Texas Hill Country!
