Fresh into the new year, executive chef and chef de cuisine of Isla, JohnLichtenberger and Roman Murphy, are excited to introduce downtown Austin to a different kind of brunch – of the Caribbean variety. A menu uniquely its own, guests can rise and brunch with dishes like Housemade Pineapple Sweet Rolls with Pork Shoulder and Jalapeño Mustard Mornay; Johnny Cakes & Shrimp with Crumbled Bacon and Habanero Honey; and Bananas Foster French Toast with Rum Syrup. Select items from Isla’s dinner menu, including oysters, sandwiches (the Cubano and Spam Sliders) and tacos (with some new additions) will also be available during brunch service.

And accompanying the savory dishes, bar manager Miguel Lopez will keep patrons satisfied with morning appropriate libations, such as Mimosas (traditional, passion fruit and prickly pear) and the (Goodie Goodie) Rumdrop (rum, blood orange and ginger).
With brunch on Saturday and Sunday, I’ll be sipping rum drinks with paper umbrellas all weekend long!

Party-sized ceviche trio with marlin and snapper served with fresh tortilla chips. Perfect for sharing over rum drinks! My favorite item from Isla’s menu, also available during happy hour.

With poblano aioli, youkon golds, goat cheese and herbs.
Johnny Cakes
With shrimp and crumbled bacon with habanero honey.
Bananas Foster French Toast
You have to end brunch on a sweet note with bananas foster french toast with rum sauce.
