Best French Fries In Austin

If you are what you eat, then I would be a French fry. If only I could profess my love for fried potatoes, whether thinly sliced, wedges, crinkle-cut, curly, topped with garlic, smothered with cheese, or dipped in housemade aioli.

French fries are my weakness and if they’re on the menu, you betcha I’m ordering them. Here are my 9 favorite and the best French fries in Austin.

Pommes Frites

These pommes frites were the reason why this blog post received a 2017 refresh. Crispy, salty, and overall addicting when dipped in the garlic aïoli.

110 San Antonio St,

Happy Lobster Truck Angry Fries

There’s nothing angry about these fries but they’re called the angry fries at Happy Lobster Truck. Well, I guess I’ll be angry if you stole them from me. French fries, hot giardiniera, cheese sauce, angry sauce, and Maine lobster.

Check their website to see where they’re parked

Chilantro Kimchi Fries

Chi’lantro BBQ

If you haven’t had Chi’lantro’s famous kimchi fries, you haven’t lived. Choose from ribeye beef, spicy pork, spicy chicken, soy-glazed chicken, or tofu, caramelized kimchi, cheddar + monterey jack, onions, cilantro, sesame seeds, sriracha, and magic sauce.

Multiple locations,

My favorite fries in Austin are hands down Hopdoddy’s truffle fries with extra truffle sauce and chipotle ketchup! Along with a side of Primetime burger and caramel and sea salt milkshake.

Multiple locations,

Josephine House

Josephine House

Even though the fries at Josephine House aren’t available à la carte, you sure won’t be complaining about the Josephine house burger with Grafton cheddar and harissa aïoli.

Sala & Betty French Fries

Sala & Betty

The crispiest fries award goes to Sala & Betty on Airport Blvd. The fries are so crispy that they are almost translucent. You can order the fries à la carte, or you can enjoy them in the Mister T sandwich. We’ve been obsessed with Sala & Betty lately, ordering the chicken dinner and French fries via Amazon Prime (free delivery!).

5201 Airport Blvd, Austin, TX,

P Terry’s

Everyone loves P Terry’s skin-on, thin-cut French Fries, and for good reason. Grab a couple with your fingers, and dip into the sauce of your choice. Repeat.

Multiple locations,

Hyde Park Grill

Hyde Park Bar & Grill

Coated in a buttermilk batter, black pepper, spices and served with Hyde Park sauce, Hyde Park Bar & Grill’s French fries have been included in People Magazine’s and Food Network’s best French fries lists.

Salty Sow

French Fries

Second Bar + Kitchen

For those looking to indulge, order the black truffle pommes frites with grana padano and truffle aioli. You can even add seared foie gras for an extra $14.

200 Congress Avenue, Austin, TX,

If you’re at Parkside, you have to order the Parkside fries. They’re fried to a crispy golden and topped with tons of garlic and shallot. Bonus, they’re half off during happy hour Monday through Friday from 5PM to 6:30PM.
