City of Albuquerque – I’m back! The last time I was in New Mexico was in 2019 and I went to Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Taos. We wanted to visit White Sands National Park so we flew into Albuquerque, stayed a couple of nights in Santa Fe, drove down to White Sands, and then back to Albuquerque.

Albuquerque has grown quite a bit since the last time I was here and I was excited to discover a couple of new spots!
Coffee at Little Bear Coffee Co.
Our first top in Albuquerque was coffee at Little Bear coffee shop. The space used to be a tire shop and it’s dog-friendly with an outdoor patio!

And Stuff Retail Collective
Located next door to Little Bear Coffee is the cutest little shop, And Stuff Retail Collective, that is part bookstore, gift shop, and plant shop. I’ve started buying plants as souvenirs every time I travel and I picked up a new plant here for this trip!

Rooftop brunch at Level 5 at Hotel Chaco
We stayed at Hotel Chaco in downtown Albuquerque, this Heritage Hotels & Resorts is a New Mexico based, independent luxury hotel brand with a portfolio of nine culturally distinct properties across the state, in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Taos and Las Cruces. Heritage Hotels & Resorts, Inc. was established in 2005 to develop culturally distinct hotels and resorts. The collection of distinctive New Mexico resorts and hotels draws from a blend of the Southwest’s Native American, Mexican, Spanish, and American Western cultural and historical influences.
Hotel Chaco has a pool on the ground floor and a rooftop restaurant called Level 5 with a stunning 360 panoramic view of Albuquerque and the Sandia Mountains. Loved the huevos rancheros on the brunch menu!
Heritage Hotels has a really amazing promo right now called Escape to Enchantment that allows travelers the opportunity to experience several of New Mexico’s top destinations, including Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Taos and Las Cruces, while staying in luxury hotel properties, all for an affordable price. Perfect for an NM road trip!

Located conveniently across the street from Hotel Chaco is Sawmill Marke. This is New Mexico’s first artisan food hall with 20+ vendors spotlighting local businesses, artisans, and brand new concepts, from coffee, New Mexican food, pasta, desserts, flowers, gifts, and more. There’s a big outdoor space, The Yard, in the backyard with a cute camper that serves frozen drinks.
A couple of our favorites:
- Mercantile Cafe – crispy rice bowl
- Tulipani – green chile chicken pasta
- Neko Neko Taiyaki and Softserve

Hot Air Balloon Ride
Albuquerque’s dry climate makes it ideal for hot air ballooning so much so there’s an international balloon festival that’s held in the city. The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is October 2 – 10, 2021.
We booked a sunrise balloon tour with Rainbow Ryders and it was magical! Highly, highly recommend. The tour ended with mimosas and bubbles.

I stayed at Los Poblanos on my previous trip to New Mexico and loved the lavender fields and alpacas on the property.

Santa Fe is just one hour from Albuquerque and we stayed two days in Santa Fe – blog post coming soon!
