Fireworks show at Auditorium Shores

The City of Austin announced today plans to host its annual Austin’s New Year celebration at Auditorium Shores on Saturday, December 31, from 6 p.m. – 12 a.m. The event will feature live performances by El Combo Oscuro, Taméca Jones, The Texas Gentlemen, and Extragrams. Guests will enjoy food from 10 food trucks, including Burro Cheese Kitchen, Amy’s Ice Cream, Garbo’s Lobster and Shawarma Point. A dynamic firework display at midnight will ring in 2023 with style.

This Austin’s New Year will be unlike any other. In keeping with classic NYE tradition, the firework show will take place at midnight, instead of 10 p.m. as it has in years past. Large portions of the park will be left as open space, allowing guests to spread out, lay down, and enjoy the show from the comfort of the lawn.

Austin’s New Year will take place on Saturday, December 31 at Auditorium Shores at Town Lake Metropolitan Park, located at 800 W Riverside Dr. The lawn will open at 6 p.m., and guests are encouraged to bring picnic blankets and chairs to comfortably enjoy the evening’s festivities. For the first time, beer, wine and champagne will be available for purchase for guests who are 21 and older, in a designated beer hall.

The event will feature a variety of special guest appearances and performances throughout the evening. At 7:30 p.m., emcee Trevor Scott (host of We Are Austin on CBS Austin KEYE-TV) will welcome guests and introduce the night’s first performers, local drag troupe, Extragrams. Following their performance, El Combo Oscuro, a psychedelic-cumbia band, will kick off the live music portion of the show at 8 p.m.

Extragrams will keep the party going with another performance at 9:00 p.m. The “Queen of Austin soul”, Taméca Jones, will take the stage at 9:30 p.m. and at 10:30 p.m, Extragrams will give their final performance of the night.

The Roosevelt Room hosts Roaring 20s New Year’s Eve Party

Ring in the New Year at an Award-Winning Cocktail Bar’s Annual New Year’s Eve Celebration

WHO: Cocktail experts and master mixologists at The Roosevelt Room.

WHAT: Ring in the new year at The Roosevelt Room during this year’s annual Roaring 20s New Year’s Eve Party where guests can enjoy Austin’s nationally recognized cocktail bar for a classy, seated celebration.

In true Roosevelt Room fashion, the expert bar team is paying homage to the 1920s by curating a menu of 12 classic libations created in the 20s and pre-Prohibition era such as the French 75 made with dry gin, lemon juice, cane syrup, brut sparkling cava & lemon peel and the Scofflaw with Redemption Rye Whiskey, Noilly Prat Dry Vermouth, mulled wine purée, lemon juice, angostura & orange bitters. It would not be a New Year’s Eve celebration without bubbles; the team has hand-selected seven variations of champagne to include on this year’s menu.

While indulging in a craft cocktail, guests can enjoy the sounds of upbeat electro-swing tunes while DJ Beatsmode performs live. This performance will continue until the ball drops at midnight, which will be displayed on the projector above the bar.

For this year’s celebration, there will be a semi-formal to formal dress code. The Roosevelt Room team kindly requests no casual clothes including sandals, tank tops, baggy clothes, jeans, t-shirts, baseball caps and tennis shoes. Attire like cocktail dresses/skirts, suits, button-down shirts, fedoras/trilbies/cocktail hats and dress shoes/heels are highly encouraged. Bonus points if guests come dressed in flapper dresses and seersucker to perfectly embody the Jazz Age in lavish style.

There are a wide range of seats and tables available based on each party’s size and needs. Each individual seat comes with a complimentary glass of champagne. Every table has a minimum purchase requirement of one bottle of champagne.

WHEN: Saturday, December 31, 7:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.

Wax Myrtle’s will be decked out in pink sparkles for the occasion and the Mule Shoe bar space will be transformed into a pop-up Champagne Room that is photo-opp ready, so come dressed in your best disco duds and be ready to party in style all night long.
