I had my first lobster roll from Garbo’s Fresh Maine Lobster food truck a couple of years ago and was instantly smitten. Garbo’s Fresh Maine Lobster proudly serves New England cuisine with an Austin twist. Owned by Heidi Garbo, Garbo’s began in Austin, Texas as a food truck in 2013 and in 2014, established a brick and mortar at 14735 Bratton Lane.

The new wine and oyster bar features an exquisite selection of red, white, rosé, and sparkling wine including Pazo De Galegos, an Albariño wine from Spain, and Radio-Coteau “Alberigi,” a delicious Pinot Noir from Russian River Valley, California. The bar will also offers sake and beer. Guests have the opportunity to taste fresh oysters from across the country including Belon, Shigoku from Washington State, and more.

Known for its fresh lobster rolls, Garbo’s brick and mortar has expanded its menu, created by Executive Chef Mario Fortuna, to feature snacks like smoked fish dip; tuna crostini; small plates including ceviche, grilled octopus and white wine mussels; and large plates like grilled monkfish, porcini dusted flat iron steak, and fish and chips.

Squid ink pappardelle

Squid ink pappardelle

Squid ink pappardelle, squid, mussels, clams, chorizo & tomato. I was so excited when I saw the squid ink pasta on the menu! It’s unfortunate that not a lot of restaurants prepare this anymore (aRoma Italian use to have a squid ink pasta but they took it off the menu). Definitely a must order at Garbo’s.

Fish & Chips

Fish & Chips

Lightly battered cod, served with tartar and vinegar. We LOVED the fish and chips!

Steamer Clams Steamer Clams Steamer Clams Steamer Clams

Steamer Clams

Shipped directly from Maine, the steamer clams are available for a limited time. You first dip the clams in the broth and then in the butter. This dish is a hidden gem in Austin!
