Poke – do you call it pok-ee or poké? Either way, there are several spots in Austin to get a bowl of poke! What is poke you ask? Poke is a Native Hawaiian cuisine that’s diced raw fish over a bowl of rice with vegetables and umami-packed sauces.

Malibu Poke - best poke in austin

Malibu Poke

Malibu Poke is my favorite poke in Austin because the bowls are perfectly seasoned and the fish and shrimp are always fresh. I also love that they use ingredients like massaged kale, cauliflower rice, coconut curry, and bonito flakes.

Draft beer, sale, wine, and lower sugar cocktails are also available at Malibu Poke.

COVID-19: Malibu Poke does have a small outdoor patio if you’d like to stay and eat.

What to order: Spicy aioli shrimp, tropical chimichurri shrimp, spicy chili tuna, red miso salmon

Pokeworks

Pokeworks is a national chain but this one is franchised by a local sweet couple in Austin from Brazil. Of all the spots on this best poke in Austin list, Pokeworks is the only one that makes poke burritos!

They just opened so they didn’t have their musubi yet but I want to go back and try it. I also loved their miso soup and line of organic teas.

What to order: Hawaiian ahi classic, Sriracha shrimp in a poke burrito, garlic spam musubi, and miso soup.

Poke-Poke

The portions at Poke-Poke are GENEROUS. I really enjoyed the JT’s poke (super spicy) and shiso salmon poke. For my vegan friends, Poke Poke has a Thai pad poke with cubed tofu.

Craft beer, wine, and sake are available at the SoCo location.

Me So Poke

Me So Poke

I’ve been up to Me So Poke in North Austin a couple of times and I like their dragon bowl and California bowl. The poke bowls are both filled with rice and leafy greens. They also have a vegeta bowl and a kid’s bowl.
