Holiday Cocktails: Winter Sangria

Winter Sangria

Today marks the first day of December! The cold, dreary weather in Austin has been bumming me out lately so to celebrate the holiday season and brighten up the days, here’s a holiday cocktail. This winter sangria is festive, tastes like fall in a glass, and is super easy to create!

Winter Sangria

Start with a great bottle of sparkling wine like Gloria Ferrer, white grape juice, apples, and cranberries. Convivial, social, elegant, fun — the sparkling wines of Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards are a perfect match for any holidays and are arguably the most social beverage. Exuberant and fruit-forward, their wines are outstanding with holiday cuisine. Gloria Ferrer wines have earned over 400 gold medals and 50 90+ scores in the last 5 years!

Winter Sangria

The best part of a sangria is that you can make it ahead in a pitcher! I chopped my apples the night before and combined them cranberries with the grape juice to chill in the fridge, along with the bottle of sparking wine. No need to worry about the fruit browning. The sparkling wine was added to the pitcher before the party started so the fruity flavors could blossom, and so the cocktail would be bubbly.

Winter Sangria

Pour the chilled winter sangria into glasses, and garnish with sugared rosemary for a festive sip!

Sugared Rosemary

Sugared rosemary adds a “Oo la la” sparkly touch to any holiday cocktail. Dip fresh rosemary sprigs in water and generously sprinkle with granulated sugar over parchment paper. Allow to dry before using as garnish.
