I can’t believe Christmas is right around the corner! I’ve been looking for new recipes to make at home. Christmas confetti pasta with red and green bell peppers is so festive which makes it perfect for the holiday season!

Christmas Pasta Recipe

Total Time: 40 minutes

Fettuccine pasta with red and green bell peppers make this Christmas confetti pasta perfect for the holiday season!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 package (8 ounces) Barilla fettucine
  • 1 lb peeled & deveined shrimp
  • 1 cup chopped red pepper
  • 1 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1/3 cup chopped onion
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1/3 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/5 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

    1. Bring a pot of water to a boil.
    2. Meanwhile, go ahead and chop all the vegetables (garlic, onions, red bell peppers, and green bell peppers).
    3. Once the water is boiling, add salt and add Barilla fettuccine pasta. Boil uncovered, stirring occasionally for 12 minutes. Remove from heat and drain. Set aside one cup of pasta water.
    4. Bring another pan to medium-high heat and add olive oil. Add garlic and onions and saute for a couple of minutes before adding red and green bell peppers. Saute until softened.
    5. Add shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes until cooked through.
    6. Add fettuccine and toss to combine with half of the parmesan cheese. Add pasta water if necessary.
    7. Season with oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.
    8. Plate and top with more parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes.

Christmas Pasta Recipe Step-By-Step

Boiling pasta in a pot

1. Bring a pot of water to a boil

Start by bringing a pot of water to a boil.

2. Chop ingredients

Chop red bell pepper, green bell pepper, onions, and garlic. Set aside.

 

3. Boil pasta

Salt the water as salty as the sea! Add Barilla fettuccine pasta and cook for 12 minutes until al dente.

4. Saute veggies

Bring a pan to medium-high heat and add olive oil. Add chopped garlic and onions, and then add red bell pepper and green bell peppers. Sautee for a couple of minutes.

5. Cook shrimp

In the same pan with the veggies, cook shrimp for 2 – 3 minutes until cooked through.

6. Add pasta

Add fettuccine noodles to the pan with shrimp and veggies. 

Tip: Set aside a cup of pasta water. Add pasta water as needed.

7. Add butter

My secret to pasta is always finishing with a couple of pats of butter!
