The Shade Store

The house is finally coming together and the finishing touch was adding shades and drapes! I chose The Shade Store because they have two showrooms here in Austin and I wanted to be able to see, touch, and feel the different fabrics.

Here’s my experience with using The Shade Store for my window coverings in my home.

How it works

The Shade Store offers a FREE design consultation in person at their showroom, or virtual consultation. To ensure the perfect fit, The Shade Store offers FREE installation services where they send a professional to do a full in-house measurement and install. So they came to my house and measured every single window.

ORDER FREE SWATCHES

Then, I went to The Shade Store showroom in Austin to look at fabrics and finishes before making my final selects. The order gets sent off and the product is mailed to my home.

The Shade Store then sends a team to come unbox all the shades and professionally install each shade onto the window.

My custom window treatments order

The Shade Store just launched a new designer collection with Martyn Lawrence Bullard and I wanted to add shades that had texture. The Tangier Weave was inspired by the artisans of Tangier, this woven fabric is a fresh take on the basketweave design, blending culture and period with its timeless textural nature.

You can choose from 6 different materials in 20+ colors that are available for roman shades, drapery and cornices.

I can’t believe we went months without shades in the house but I’m so glad we finally did. Especially with these hot summer months, the window coverings help save so much on electricity bills by keeping the rooms cooler and we don’t have to turn the A/C down as much.

The Shade Store review

In Austin, The Shade Store has two locations in North Austin at The Domain and in downtown Austin on west 5th St. I made an appointment at the downtown location.

After

Before + After: The Shade Store | roman shades

Roman shades

For the dining room and guest bedrooms, I chose roman shades with the continuous loop silver chain for the ease of use and the minimal design. It’s so easy to raise the roman shades in the dining room during the day and then lower in the evening.

You can add blackout liners to roman shades for the bedroom too!

Drapes

For the downstairs living room, master bedroom, and upstairs living room, I chose drapes to make the rooms look bigger and add a softening effect. I love especially love how the Martyn Lawrence Bullard Tangier Weave texture on the drapes. For the hardware tracks, I chose a light brown that matches the wood flooring and custom bookshelf in the living room.

Adding drapes and roman shades from The Shade Store were the finishing touch that pulls this house together and makes it feel like home!
