Beginning June 27th, The W Austin started offering their S.I.P (Social Interactive Playtime) menu in The Living Room from 3-6:30pm daily, in addition to the TRACE bar and patio. The menu features creations from newly appointed “libationist” Joe Thompson. Trace’s S.I.P. menu has generated a lot of buzz over the past few months and will now expand into the popular Living Room.

A variety of items from sustainably themed Trace made their way onto the happy hour menu including appetizers and cocktails for $5 each. The S.I.P menu is available all day on Monday and each day at 5 pm tastings of libationist Thompson’s specialty cocktail of the day will be served complimentary.

“Austin is a craft cocktail market and we have to keep up with the best to be the best,” comments Thompson. “TRACE and the Living Room at the W Austin aim to provide an “of the moment” atmosphere by employing fresh ingredients, imagination, and technique while maintaining a very playful and endearing attitude toward all of their guests.”

The Living Room.

French fries with bbq ketchup and a spicy mayonnaise. Nicely fried and garnished with herbs. I could eat three baskets.

Chili braised pork tostada. Pork was tender to the point where it fell apart. Topped with fresh guacamole and tomatoes on a fried tortilla.

Tender beef brisket sliders. Beef brisket and tangy slaw tucked between two toasted sesame buns. The beef was tender but I wish there was more in the slider.

Other items on their menu include:

nibbles • 5
vegetable or beef empanadas
cilantro sauce
tender beef brisket sliders
smoked gouda, crispy onions, coleslaw
house made boudin sausage
dijon mustard, cayenne pepper
chili braised pork tostada
guacamole, red onions, tomatoes, and black beans
all natural beef meatballs
spicy tomato sauce
libations • 5
tito’s vodka • dripping springs vodka • deep eddy vodka
z tequila • treaty oak rum
bubbles • red • white
LIBATION OF THE DAY
american beers • 3

The Living Room
I love the setting at The Living Room. The atmosphere and decor is very calming. Perfect to curl up and read a book or to do some writing. They have several “living rooms”, which are all separated so you can have private conversations. What surprised me the most is that they allow dogs. There was a big, gorgeous golden doodle in the first room entered! I’ll definitely be coming back with Basil.

TRACE Restaurant
The W Hotel has been reopened today (July 9th) after their glass falling incident. I actually walked out of the hotel that very Tuesday, minutes right after the glass fell. Shocking right? But nevertheless I have lived to tell the tale and the downtown W Hotel area should be safe now.
