Green Bean Casserole

Classic Green Bean Casserole.

Green bean casserole is a must have for the holidays. It’s the most simple dish that you can make but it tastes so good. Tender green beans smothered with a creamy sauce and topped with crunchy, flavorful onions. For some reason I cannot get enough of French’s French Fried Onions. I never buy premade food products but fried onions, leave it to French’s. They’re the experts.

Where did green bean casserole originate?
Green bean casserole was invented in 1955 by the Campbell Soup Company test kitchen under the leadership of Dorcas Reilly. Their goal was to come up with simple recipes using Campbell’s foods, to promote the company’s product. The casserole is typical of 1950s American food in that it smothers vegetables in a ready-made and thick, creamy sauce.
