Girls' Weekend Getaway To Phoenix

My girlfriend, Cassie, got married earlier this year and unfortunately, I missed her wedding in India. To make it up to her, we decided to fly out to Phoenix for a girls’ weekend this summer!

Phoenix is pretty hot during the summer with triple-digit temperatures but there are ways of staying cool in the desert. Check out my guide to things to do in Phoenix for a girls’ weekend – where to stay, best restaurants to dine at, and activities to do!

WHERE TO STAY IN PHOENIX

Four Seasons Scottsdale

Four Seasons Scottsdale Casita

FOUR SEASONS SCOTTSDALE

This was my second visit to Phoenix so I wanted to stay a desert-like property so Four Seasons Scottsdale was my top choice. The drive from downtown Phoenix to Four Seasons in Scottsdale was quite scenic with rows and rows of cactus. We loved staying in our shared casita with a private patio and a beautiful view of the Sonoran Desert.

AMENITIES

  • Two pools
  • Poolside cabanas
  • Wi-Fi
  • Fitness center
  • Two tennis courts
  • Golf shuttle to Troon NOrth Golf Club
  • Two restaurants and one bar on property

FOUR SEASONS SCOTTSDALE ROOM SERVICE

We slept in the first morning (oops!) and ended up ordering room service to the room. It was so easy to use the Four Seasons app to place a breakfast group order to the room. You can even request housekeeping to the room through the app!

Proof Canteen

PROOF CANTEEN AT FOUR SEASONS SCOTTSDALE

We had Sunday brunch at Proof Canteen and it was #foodcoma delicious! The lemon ricotta masa cakes and bourbon pecan sticky bun were my absolute favorites. If you need something lighter, they have a fresh juice flight that includes a green juice.

WHAT TO ORDER: Pretzel knots, lemon ricotta masa cakes, green chile pork benedict, and bourbon pecan sticky bun.

Elements at Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort

ELEMENTS AT SANCTUARY CAMELBACK MOUNTAIN RESORT

We were so impressed with our dinner at Elements at Sanctuary Camelback. Seriously makes my top 10 list of best restaurants that I’ve dined at! Elements serves farm-fresh American Cuisine with Asian accents. I had the hoisin braised shortribs and they were so delicious that I ate the entire plate. I also had the maine lobster hotpot.

If there’s a wait, go to the Jade Bar for cocktails. They have floor to ceiling windows so you can enjoy the beautiful view of Sanctuary Camelback without the heat.

WHAT TO ORDER: Softshell crab steam bun, kurobuta pork chop, hoisin braised short ribs, and fresh catch of the day

Churn

CHURN

I couldn’t visit Phoenix without stopping by my favorite Phoenix ice cream shop for a cold treat!

? Street tacos, elotes, guac, & aqua frescas with my blogger friend Chelsea Bird and Citizen Home Decor!

MASSAGE AT SANCTUARY CAMELBACK MOUNTAIN RESORT

We spent one of our days getting massages at Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort and then lounging by the pool with plenty of frozen prickly pear margaritas. We even experienced a haboob here!

Pinnacle Peak Park

HIKE PINNACLE PEAK PARK

Not our actual hiking outfits but we were too sweaty to take a picture in the morning. Four Seasons offers a guided morning hike at 6am three times a week. Ask the concierge for the schedule. Make sure to wear shorts, hiking shoes, sunscreen, and bring plenty of cold water.

Pinnacle Peak Park, a 3.5-mile round trip trail, is located less than one mile from Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale and is open daily from dawn to dusk.

COCKTAILS AT BITTER & TWISTED

Housed inside the former Arizona Prohobition Headquarters at the historic Luhrs Building in downtown Phoenix is Bitter & Twisted. This bar made the top 10 list of best American high-volume cocktail bar and I can see why. It’s more than craft cocktails but a craft cocktail experience starting from the beautifully illustrated menu that changes seasonally. When I say illustrated menu, it’s practically a storybook on cocktails. The cocktails were killer and so were the snacks. I wish we dined here!

I highly recommend making a reservation using the NoWait App because standing outside in Phoenix heat is no fun. More info here.
