BACKYARD BEFORE
This is what the backyard looked like – the outdoor patio didn’t have tile so we did add that. As you can see, there was nothing to be enjoyed in the backyard – just empty grass!

YARDZEN DESIGN PROCESS
I used with Yardzen to design the backyard and it was such an easy and seamless process. Start by choosing the package based on how big your backyard is and what your budget is, fill out questionnaire, and submit photos and videos. A couple of weeks later, Yardzen created this backyard design!
Yardzen further gives recommendations on plants, furniture and even local contractors.

Outdoor tile patio
I am in love with this tile we selected from Clay Imports – Penacho Michelada Oaxaca series 8″x8″. It gives the backyard a pop of color!
Breeze block wall
The YardZen backyard design incorporated two breeze block walls that divided up the space and added privacy. Clay Imports Breeze Block Petalo is simply stunning.
Stock tank pool
We wanted to be able to cool off in the backyard but swimming pools are insanely expensive and are taking 9-10 months to build so we opted for a stock tank pool from Stock Tank Love. They’re a local company in Austin that delivers through Texas and they set up the stock tank pool in less than two hours!

Artificial turf
Switching out grass for artificial turf was the BEST investment for the backyard. The house came with bermuda but with the heat in Texas, it was incredibly difficult to keep alive without watering every single day and don’t even get me started on the weeds.
Southern Turf Co. is a local company in Austin that specializes in artificial turf installation and services Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas. The team came out for a consult to fully understand my pain points and my needs in the backyard and brought turf samples. The installation only took two days and there is SO much work that goes into it. Southern Turf Co is dedicated to making sure the turf lasts as long as it can and I watched them put down so many different layers of sand and materials before putting on the turf.
The dogs LOVE running around the backyard and we don’t have to stress out on watering the grass and constantly pulling weeds and putting weed killer. We love having artificial turf and would recommend this to everyone.
Pergola

Fire pit
Love how beautiful this fire pit looks and we’ve used it to roast marshmallows and cozy up in the winter. Includes natural red lava rocks and propane tank cover.

I’m surprised by how much we’ve enjoyed these outdoor lounge chairs – super relaxing to lounge on in the backyard. We ordered these outdoor covers and outdoor pillows.
