The Sarasota Modern Hotel

Hello from Sarasota! I just got back from a weekend getaway to Sarasota with Casablanca Fan Company and we stayed at the Sarasota Modern Hotel. To be honest, I never paid much attention to ceiling fans before and have always edited out my ceiling fans in my photos at home because they were just an eyesore. I was so surprised by this immersive experience to learn about the world of ceiling fans – everything from design, inspiration, and functionality of Casablanca.

Casablanca Fan Company Piston Fan

CASABLANCA PAUME

Casablanca Fans are installed at the Sarasota Modern Hotel so we got to see the different styles IRL and even got to meet with one of the designers, Claire! The Casablanca Paume fans are installed on the restaurant patio in a matte black. French for “palm,” the paume fan was inspired by classic mid-century wicker caned furniture.

  • Remote control receiver pre-installed in the fan eliminates the need for additional wiring
  • Adjust speed and reverse ceiling fan direction with premium handheld remote
  • Wet rated for use in outdoor areas directly exposed to weather such as pergolas and also great indoors
  • 13-degree blade pitch optimized to ensure ideal air movement and peak performance
  • LED light kit for lower energy consumption, brighter light output, and a longer lifespan than traditional bulbs
  • Reversible 4-speed Direct Drive™ motor provides unparalleled power, silent performance, and reliability over decades of daily use

CASABLANCA PISTON

The Casablanca piston fans are installed on patios of the rooms on the ground level in sage green.

  • Damp rated for use as an indoor or outdoor ceiling fan in spaces exposed to moisture and humidity such as porches, patios, sunrooms, and bathrooms

Casablanca Fan Company Aya

CASABLANCA AYA

The Casablanca Aya fan is installed in one of the guest rooms on the 4th floor and this is the fan that I was eyeing online and in person, it’s even more stunning! I love the simplicity of the Aya fan and will probably be putting this one into my downstairs.

Inspired by modern Japanese and Scandinavian furniture, the Aya ceiling fan features two blades that delicately peel away from the housing like fine wood shavings. This is the first Wi-Fi® enabled ceiling fan in the Casablanca collection!

  • SIMPLEconnect® WiFi® ceiling fan enabled for home automation featuring integrations with Amazon Alexa, Apple® HomeKit™, and Google Assistant putting the ultimate control in the palm of your hands or by the sound of your voice
  • Remote control receiver pre-installed in the fan eliminates the need for additional wiring

Sarasota Modern Hotel

The Modern Hotel in Sarasota – a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, is a beautifully designed hotel in a mid-century modern aesthetic and was inspired by European design and 1940s modernism in South Florida. The hotel is filled with plants indoors and outdoors so the plant lady in me loved it. I stayed on the fifth floor with a balcony overlooking the pool and my balcony came with a private soaking tub! The rooms are also ginormous with the most beautiful marble and gold accented kitchenette.

Rudolph's at Sarasota Modern Hotel

Sarasota Modern Hotel RESTAURANTS:

Rudolph’s – Rudolph’s is the restaurant located inside the Sarasota Modern Hotel that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I had breakfast twice while I was there and the food was delicious. I loved the ricotta pancakes with pork sausage, and then the morning plate with scrambled eggs, crispy potatoes, and pork sausage.

Juice_Bar – bar located by the pool serving up cocktails

Things To Do In Sarasota FL

THINGS TO DO IN SARASOTA

The Overton – super cute plant filled cafe that serves bowls, toasts, and the biggest plate of truffled parmesan fries I’ve ever had.

Boca Restaurant – we had dinner at this farm to table restaurant and loved the food. The fried green tomatoes and lobster gnocchi were so good! The greens for the salad are grown in the restaurant’s vertical wall garden.

Element – for fine dining, we went to this modern Mediterranean grill in Sarasota.

The Ringling Museum (pictured above) – this is the most famous attraction in Sarasota and one of the preeminent art and cultural collections in the United States. The Ringling is the 66-acre estate of John and Mable Ringling (American circus owner, developer and art collector) that includes the Circus Museum, Ca’d’Zan, The Historic Asolo Theatre, Bayfront Gardens, and more.

Ca’d’Zan – located on the grounds of the Ringling, this was the winter home of John Ringling and his wife Mable.

Muse – Muse is the restaurant at The Ringling and I had a surprisingly delicious lunch here. The house deli sampler with tuna salad, chicken salad, fried green tomatoes, fried pickle spears, super green salad, and lavash crackers was SO GOOD. Definitely sharable though.
